Multimedia In Classrooms

Quote:
Through creating electronic personal narratives, students become active creator, rather than passive consumers, of multimedia.

Reaction:
Thanks to the rapid development of internet world, our lives are filled with abundance of various things, which are supporting us to keep up with the pace of unstopped digital society. Among these, as an educator, I do prefer some tools like Photostory 3 , for it maximizes students' creativeness and gives them more spaces to reveal thoughts deep in their hearts.
When I first watched the Photostory of a 5th grade student, I was fascinated by the vivid and clear  display of his own history on the screen, this is something that we could never have dreamed about a decade ago. Only through some images and simple utilization of some words, I had an opportunity to know his 12-year-old history, which was nothing but unbelievable. At the same time, it made me think more about its pros and cons. It does contribute tremendously to most of the classroom activities to boost pupils creativity, however, it also can have some negative effects to some extent. For example, some students may focus too much on the entertainment aspect of using technology rather than using it to learn something their education lives require. What's more, laziness always comes after user-friendly apps and softwares as well.
In words, it sounds complicated somehow, but as long as we guide them to the right direction they will follow us and this our inescapable responsibility. Isn't  it the reason qualified educators are always in high demand?
